Today is Oman’s 46th anniversary of the Blessed Renaissance Day, the celebration of the first day that Qaboos bin Said Al Said came to power.
Qaboos acceded to the throne on 23 July 2020 after deposing his father in a palace coup with the aim of ending the country’s isolation and using its oil revenue for modernization and development, according to Wikipedia. After moving to Muscat, he declared that the country would no longer be known as Muscat and Oman; he changed its name to “the Sultanate of Oman” in order to better reflect its political unity.
Many streets in Oman are named “23 July Street” in honor of this auspicious day!
Congratulations Oman. So, congrats Oman. May HM continue to live a long healthy life to ensure the country continues to make its way in the world as a stable, prosperous and friendly country.
